There is a lot can be said about the symbolism of the wolf and the bear in slavic mythology, they were considered the most powerful animals in the magical sense. And both animals played an important role in wedding rituals, where their symbolism was expressed in a lot of different divinations, rituals and charms.

They had opposite symbolism: the wolf embodied movement, the connection between the worlds, the constantly penetrable boundary between the human world and the other world; the bear symbolized the center of the other world, remained stationary, and any contact with him was a violation, followed by inevitable retribution.
